November Wild West Trivia

The first Monday of each month I post a Wild West Trivia Question on this blog. Please leave your answer or best guess in the comment section of the blog post for a chance to win one of my books. At the end of the week, I’ll draw a name from all those who entered the contest and post the winner’s name in the comment section–be sure to check back to see who wins!

Question: Broncho Billy Anderson starred in the 1903 “The Great Train Robbery” and became the first cowboy matinee idol. What was his real name?

  1. Gilbert M. Anderson – Gilbert really does NOT have the same cache as Bronco Billy.

Another fun time searching thank you.

  2. The Encyclopedia of Arkansas History & Culture says: “Broncho Billy” Anderson was the stage name of Gilbert Maxwell Aronson, America’s first cowboy movie star…but Wikipedia says he was born Maxwell Henry Aronson. *shrug*

  3. Mr. Aronson was born March 21, 1880 in Little Rock Arkansas and died January 20, 1971 at the age of 90. His stage name was Gilbert M. Anderson but his real name was Maxwell Henry Aronson. He started out in vaudeville.

  4. Congratulations to this months Wild West Trivia Winner…..Susan (Lass410@yahoo.com)! My thanks to everyone for participating in my November contest–hope you enjoyed learning about “Broncho Billy Anderson”! Don’t forget to stop by next month to see what my December trivia question will be.
