On Thursday October 16th I sent out a newsletter, sharing the exciting news that I’ll be spreading my writing wings and branching out into women’s fiction. To celebrate I’m hosting a giveaway. For the past year and a half I’ve been working on a single title book proposal and I’m thrilled to share that I sold that project in a two-book deal to New American Library(NAL)/Penguin. What started out as a single title romance evolved into a women’s fiction book that will make its debut in NAL/Penguin’s Accent line, which is heavily marketed toward book clubs and library readers’ groups. The books include discussion group questions and will be available in trade-paperback and e-book formats at your favorite online retailers and brick and mortar book stores. **(Titles and release dates to be determined)

This is quite a switch from my Harlequin American Romances, which I plan to continue writing. Those of you who aren’t as familiar with the women’s fiction genre, the novels focus on the woman’s journey—a woman who is often on the brink of a life change and personal growth. Her story is about self-discovery, self-preservation, self-acceptance and/or self-improvement. Even though this book will be broader in scope and depth than my romances, there’s one thing you can always count on when you pick up any Marin Thomas book—a story with characters you won’t easily forget. I promise that my women’s fiction books will deliver flawed characters you can cheer for, small-town settings and the importance of family that you’ve come to know in my Harlequin American Romances.

A Few Tidbits About My Women’s Fiction Novel….

Setting: Unforgiven, Oklahoma. A fictitious oil town located in the Oklahoma panhandle where roughnecks, cowboys and ranchers have little use for women.

Ruby—a heroine who is as hard as the gemstone she’s named after.

Jimmy—a Native American Indian who impersonates Elvis and runs the Jailhouse Diner.

Big John—a dwarf who owns the Trading Post Mercantile and has the uncanny ability to foresee the future.

Hank—a hardened rancher facing his mortality and seeking forgiveness from the daughter he gave away at birth.

Joe Smith—a ranch hand living with a secret that is eating away at his soul.

Mia–a teenage daughter who’d like nothing more than to quit her mother.
